Review: I'm very much impressed by all the insightful comments I read here and yes, I agree with Nick's point of view. No, China is not a Communist regime in reality but something much worse. It's like a cancer which eats off the goodness in human souls ,finds out and encourages the growth of the very worst in human hearts such as greed and hatred, uses it for its own gain ,and turns an individual into a beast which is incapable of having the slightest concerns for others. This is the cause of all the corruptions, cheats, neglect of environmental pollutions, fake products, cardboard steam buns, etc. ,whatever you name it. The organ harvesting of a spiritual group members for profits while still alive is an excellent example, and the financial support to Sudan in Darfur is another.

Review: China is like an Enron state. At least thats how it looks to me. While I think it's very possible for it to continue to grow into a world super power, I think the brakes on this giant 5000 pound behemoth were cheaply manufactured (pun intended), and it could crash devastatingly.

Review: On the whole a really good and balanced article about China's future. Where I see the parallels with the corruption of politicians and their friends in the U.S. my Chinese friends remind me that it is much much worse in China.

Review: I love the would-be dictators that love to shut people up by accusing others of being the bad guys. Hey, JerryNZ, there is a democratic process in selections of editors and writers. It's called FREE PRESS. If people don't like this press, they'll go to another. Good luck doing this in your dictatorial regimes. And to all you libtarred apologists or commie propaganda commissars: sure there's no problem with poisoning, fakes or just general corruption and murder. That's why the latest news was that of a South Korean diplomat dying of food poisoning after eating a sandwich in Beijing Commie Corrupted China.

Review: @Holly Garfield: They are already incorporated into China's growth plan. When I view China as a single engineering project I find the problems listed as known and controllable. You have no idea what you are talking about; most of Beijing's plans are just hot air and big talk. By the time corruption and incompetence take their toll, these projects will be nothing more than propaganda showpieces. Beijing doesn't know the extent of the problems because responsible parties keep Beijing in the dark, and Beijing doesn't really want to broadly enforce necessary laws.
